"And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets."

All these means is that the message giving by someone who claims to be a "prophet" must be subject(or tested by previous prophetic messages) to what other prophets have spoken. If the message contradicts scripture and the prophets, the such individual is not a prophet of God. His message must be subject to the spirit of truth and if speaks against it, there is no light in them. (Isaiah 8:20) To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

"For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints."

Pls i want to ask about this 1corinthians 14v32. And my question is that. The word And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets , does it also mean that, when ever I 'm given a chance to preach or teach, and i have been given specific time to do so, i can stop the holyspirit and not exceed the time given to me?

Thank you for answering this I sat in a service where they were putting down people who are used to Prophesy, I know the Spirit of the Prophet is subject to the Prophet. God dropped a message in my spirit where there was no opportunity to give it. I waited until the next day when the opportunity clearly presented itself. These people were saying this scripture means we need to sift through the message. I thought that is like God saying I want to say this, is that ok? I am not a prophet though God has used me. I have a hard time. Once I let it go it flows like a river, like speaking in tongues. How could I stop it, or take back anything the Lord says? It is bad enough the way it seems like every spirit in the room zooms in on me. Then for someone to say it is wrong, and that God doesn't do it that way, nor is the old testament needed now, since Jesus fufilled it we can throw it away.

reading this scripture, i believe, as a minster of the gospel and active in my prophetic gifts, that this scripture leaves us to understand that the individual under the anointing of God/Holy spirit has the opportunity to refuse to respond to the will of the Holy spirit. We are flesh and have our free will. The choice to submit ourselves is always present. We make a choice to submit ourselves to the Holy spirit and be used by it.
