I believe this means we are to always be alert and aware of our surroundings. Sober is a state of mind.....aware, alert, ready for the coming of the Lord.

The apostle Paul encouraged fellow believers not to "sleep on the rest do". One can 'sleep on' by ignoring Jehovah's moral standards. We must make sure that ungodly individuals do not influence us to adkpt their ways and attitudes.

it means not toe be in unawareness of the spiritual ream but to always acknowledge god and stay in his will at all times to be ready.

I believe this literally means be sober not drunk. Many people think it is ok to go out drinking, but that makes us slothful and do things that are unseemly in the sight of God. We must be ready at all times in case the Lord returns.
