GOD FULLFILLS HIS PROMISES NO MATTER HOW LONG PERIOD OR TIME REMEMBER GOD IS YESTERDAY ,TODAY TOMMRROW AND FOREVER HE IS NOT LIMITED BY THINKING,MIND,TIME,PPLES PRESSURES,AFFLICTIONS OF THE MOMENT NOR OUR THOUGHTS,BUT WHEN HE SAYS A WORD HE WILL SEE TO IT THAT IT IS ACCOMPLISHED AND BRING FORTH FRUIT.SECONDLY,IT IS THE INTEND OF GOD THAT NO ONE WILL GO TO HELL OR SUFFER THE ETERNAL FIRE BUT HE IS SO PATIENT THAT HE CAN WAIT TO AN EXTEND OF DELAYING TO DO SOME THINGS ONLY FOR SOME TO GIVE THEIR LIFE TO CHRIST THE SAVIOUR OF THE UNIVERSE AND TO REPENT THAT ALL MEN HAVE JOY IN THIS WORLD AND IN THE WORLD TO COME.

Peter remind the believers that one of the first thing that will surface to shipwreck they faith, is men and women who walks after the own lust fulfilling their own desires in the last days which we are living in as well as the days the apostles live. These earth dwellers as the bible call them the scoffing is to the intent that the believers must lose they eternal hope in Christ returning for his church .God 's in his sovereignty and wisdom, full of mercy choose to suffer with patience so that the souls that are lost should repent and turn to his free gift which is eternal life in Christ Jesus What men may call slackness with God in their finite mind, God in his infinite wisdom could do in one day what a thousand years comprised to do anything. God is a long suffering God.

2nd peter 2 9 says plainly that that the day of the lord will come as a thief in the night in the which or at that time the heavens and the earth will pass away with a great noise and the earth works there in will be burned up with fervent heat that must mean that every thing will be burned up including the trees and dirt and every thing between if that be sow we better be ready for when that happens there wont be nothing left here that will all take place when Jesus comes so we better be ready it may not happen in our life time but it will happen

In the KJV it is translated as The Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness but is longsuffering to us ward not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance The words any and all figure prominently here and at first glance it is quite easy to see how the conclusion can be drawn that God wants all men to be saved But a more careful reading of the verse shows that the word us ward precedes any and all We re then forced to ask the question Who are the us of whom Peter speaks Verse 1 of the Chapter has a clue It says This second epistle beloved I now write unto you in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance This means then that this is a second letter This implies then that there is a first Thankfully we have that letter and it is in the Canon of scripture The Epistle of 1st Peter begins Peter an apostle of Jesus Christ to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus Galatia Cappadocia Asia and Bithynia 2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father through sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ Grace unto you and peace be multiplied From this we can deduce the following re 2 Peter 3 9 what he is really saying is The Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness but is longsuffering to us ward the Elect of God not willing that any of the Elect of God should perish but that all of the Elect of God should come to repentance

God does not delight in the death of sinners but gives sinners an opportunity to repent. Some blessings are delayed because God is patient with sinners, he is a forgiving God who does not want his people to perish in sin.

Some may wonder why Jehovah has not brought an end to the suffering we see on earth yet. This verse shows that he is giving all a chance to turn around and come to serve him in a way that is pleasing to him. God knows just when to end this wicked world. In the mean time, we can be grateful that his patience is leaving the way open for many to change their ways and draw close to him.
Manuel Ramirez's comment on 2012-01-03 23:01:43:
Since the Lord wishes all men be saved, he is patiently giving them all the opportunities to come to him, repent, & obey all his commandments & statutes.
