Hi Conchita,
The 10 Commandments are different in Protestant and Catholic theology.
Here is the difference based on Exodus 20 which both list the commandments:
Exodus 20 In Protestant theology:
Commandment 1: 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Commandment 2: 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image
Commandment 3: 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain
Commandment 4: 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Commandment 5: 12 Honour thy father and thy mother
Commandment 6: 13 Thou shalt not kill.
Commandment 7: 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Commandment 8: 15 Thou shalt not steal.
Commandment 9: 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Commandment 10: 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Exodus 20 In Cathoic theology:
Commandment 1: 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image
Commandment 2: 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain
Commandment 3: 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Commandment 4: 12 Honour thy father and thy mother
Commandment 5: 13 Thou shalt not kill.
Commandment 6: 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Commandment 7: 15 Thou shalt not steal.
Commandment 8: 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Commandment 9: 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Commandment 10: 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
The 10 Commandments are also listed in Deuteronomy 5.

Thank you for your response. However, you misunderstood my question. I was not asking why it is that some religions observe the Sabbath on Sunday, rather than on Saturday. My question was regarding what, exactly, is the 4th Commandment. I was taught that it is "Honor thy father and thy mother," and, applied that answer to the question posted in the "Bible Trivia" quiz. I was surprised when my answer turned out to be incorrect. I listed the 10 Commandments in the order in which I was taught. To my understanding of the KJV, as well as the Catholic Version, it would appear that the Fourth Commandment is, "Honor thy father and thy mother," not, "Remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy." See rational below:
BOOK OF EXODUS:
Verses 1 - 6 (First Commandment)
Verse 7 (Second Commandment)
Verses 8 - 11 (Third Commandment) "Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy."
Verse 12 (Fourth Commandment) "Honor thy father and thy mother."
Still confused.

we need the commandments in our lives and we need to follow them to have everlasting life.

I'm sorry as I got that commandment mixed up with the second commandment. It applies to graven images. The other thing I usually say is that to understand the Bible, it is always good to also talk to your minister or priest or leader of your church as then you can discuss it in more detail and get and give instant feed back. He generally has more experience in responding; and because of that, would not make mistakes like I do. I like that part of the second commandment so much; and it is so powerful;I simply over done it.

Your questions are not offensive and there is nothing wrong with learning the truth and hopefully you will accept things by faith as you learn. God commandment is to have no other Gods before him; and it is a power commandment visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourthgenerationof them that hate me;
6
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
He sent Christ to die for us and our sins. What do you mean was it a trick We know that it happened in fulfillment as it was predicted in full filament of prophecy; and there were witnesses etc...

Brooke, this is even difficult for mature Christians to fully understand, as God presents Himself in a way that is beyond the realm of our human understanding & experience. We believe that God is One God, but He, in His Power, sent forth His Word to Earth to fulfil His Will. This Word was made a man, Jesus, (see Jn 1:1-14) for the sole purpose to present God's Word to His people & to give His Life for them. Jesus would pay the price of their sin through death & resurrection, so by believing, the people would not have to be cast in hell as punishment. And, those who believed had help to live this new life, so were given God's Spirit. This is God's Fullness:Father, Son & Spirit: ONE God only.

Hello, because Jesus is God. JOHN 10:30
Brooke's comment on 2020-04-14 15:24:17:
If God commands "thou shall have no other Gods before me", then why did he send Jesus Christ How do we know that it was not a trick
Thank you very much, I hope not to be offensive but to learn the truth.
