The KJV bible references the cross a total of 28 times in the NT, I find no reference to stake, and also to fulfill John 3:14 he would have needed to be lifted up on a cross. I hope this helps.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

Matthew Chapter 27:38-41 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

Mark 15:32 "Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him."

Hi Bob.

I've heard good arguments for both,

Important thing is what his dying meant to us.

God bless

Did Jesus die on a stake or a cross
