Are you thinking of the "Search the Bible" box? If so, it is in the upper left-hand corner of KJB Online's Main Page. If you're corresponding with someone on a matter on the Discussion Page, it's a good idea to open a new page where you can do your Bible Word or Text Search to assist you.

though I think there was, at some point, link to search particular bible terms on this site I can no longer find it. For Example, it would be a good feature if one could type in the word 'knowledge' and see where and how often that word occurs bible wide- I might have overlooked just such a feature. Can anyone help?

The breath of life, from God into Adam (Gen 2:7), became Adam's own spirit.
The Hebrew word "naphach", which is translated as "breathed", can mean breathed or to blow into, or to inflate. The Hebrew word "neshamah", which is translated as "breath", refers to vital breath of inspiration, and is also translated as "spirit" in other Old Testament verses such as in Proverbs 20:27, which states "The spirit ("neshamah") of a man is the candle of the Lord". From the meanings of these Hebrew words, the phrase "breathed into his nostrils the breath of life", from Genesis 2:7 can be restated as "blew into his nostrils the spirit of life". We know Adam's spirit - the breath from God, is what gave him life. Another words, Adam's spirit entering his body from God's breath (or "spirit"), started his heart to beat, and then, Adam's spirit flowed into his bloodstream, causing Adam to become a living soul (Gen. 2:7). As you can tell from my explanation, God breathed Adam's spirit into him, and, as a result, Adam's soul was created. Some feel that this verse merely says that Adam came to life, but let's take a closer look. How do I know his spirit entered his bloodstream? That word "soul" is translated from the Hebrew word "Nephesh". There is another reference in the Bible, at Leviticus 17:11, which states: For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Another reference is at Deuteronomy 12:23, which also indicates that "the blood is the life". However, in both of these verses, it is also the word "Nephesh", which is, in fact, translated "life", instead of "soul", as it's translated in Genesis 2:7. In Deuteronomy 12:23, God is telling Moses not to allow the people to eat the blood of animals, because "the blood is the soul". Leviticus 17:11 declares that "the soul of the flesh is in the blood".

What is the breath of life; and man became a living soul. A living soul is a soul that lives. So, I would say, that there must be souls that do not live. Man may have had a soul before but with the breath of life, he became a living soul. So what would the soul be? It must be something in all animals but man must have one that is living; and so it seems to be what ever the difference is between animals and men or I could probably say between animals and people. That must be the living soul; what ever it is.

My thought is God called day and night according to light and darkness. If there wasnt a sun and just a light then a day could be thousands of years. Also people bring up plants needing light and dark to live but before sin things were different. We cant judge how things operated before sin. Humans didnt need to eat and animals all got along etc. I feel there is no reason to say a day was 24 hours before the sun was made. If you say it was always 24 hours you can be wrong and someone proving this will be turned off to christianity.

I believe the issue some people are having as to how long was day in the book of Genesis can be clarified Chapter 1 23 . You have to remember plants and animals need night and day , plants can 't servive a thousand years of dark and thousand years of light! Also the earth had to be rotating at the same speed it Is now.

I ve done a very exhaustive study on the Hebrew in Genesis chapters 1 and 2 I ve come to the conclusion that chapter 1 explains the creation of the heavens and earth plants animals and man This took place over a very long time as the Hebrew word for day was used in other verses for a very long time Chapter 1 creation is by Elohim Chapter 1 man is to subdue the entire earth including the seas creatures Chapter 2 is a new story about the creation of a special man created by a personal God Yahweh Elohim This man is put in a garden and his job is to tend the garden There is no sea in the garden Chapter 2 introduces a new term for field and the animals brought to Adam in the garden are to help him till the ground there The creatures in Chapter 1 are not specific for working a field It says chapter 2 man has a soul but is silent on chapter 1 man I believe chapter 1 man probabaly includes the lower thinking less conscience Neanderthal and similar pre modern man If you look at the scriptures literally in context and in light of the evidence God has left us of his creation and forget what you ve learned in Sunday school then this is a conclusion that makes sense and honest to the Bible

I believe in Chapter 1 that God created the essence of what is male and female which would apply to animals, flowers, insects, humans, etc. In Chapter 2 He formed the body of man around what is the essence of male AND female, as the sperm of man determines the sex of children. He further formed a body around the essense of what is female and the rib from man which was bone of his body since he was an only pre-formed being that God breathed life into.

I meant to add this to yesterday's comment...For those of you who are hung up on the time frame as to when GOD created each day...Here's some food for thought---2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Well, I was hoping to see notes on Genesis 2 v7 by Matthew Henry just like we saw for Genesis 1 v26. Judging from all these comments on Genesis 2 v7 I'm even MORE confused! I keep praying the GOD will bless me with knowledge, understanding, and wisdom...true wisdom can only come from GOD. I will confess that these 2 verses weigh very heavy on my heart.

Adam was a full grown man placed in a full grown garden on a newly created full grown earth. Everything he would need was there. Carbon dating would be incorrect if created full
grown or with the appearance of age. The text says further that the days had evening and morning indicating 24 hour periods not millions of years.

vs 5-6 show that there was no rain on the earth just because there was no any person to cultivate the land. Gen 1 tells about God's plan while Gen 2:7 tells us about achievement of God's plan of creating a man

1. Dont look up things on Wikipedia
2. The Genesis Account is not figurative or an Allegory
3. God Did not Create Anything on the Seventh day including Adam (Genesis 2:1-3)
4.Verse 4 Brings us back to the day or Period (days 1 - 6 , yes all these "days" are refered to one "day" or period)when Jehovah creative works were being completed.
5.How long were these creative days? the Bible does not say. Were they literal 24 hours ? Theres no basis for arbitrarily stating that each day was 24 hours but his seventh day of rest from creative works continued into Pauls day(Hebrews 4:3-6) if not into our day .
Marius Potgieter's comment on 2012-04-06 05:09:25:
Both 1 and 2 tell the same story - stated allegorically. The message is about God and His absolute wisdom and power - not a chronological account. My faith is strengthened, knowing God caused everything to come into existence and not by wondering about what came first according to my own logic. Discussions about "which one is true?" is superfluous and creates disharmony - "light" is often used (in the idiom of people who lived at that time) to denote "order" or "wisdom/understanding", et cetera. Chapters are separate pieces of skin or clay with writing on them - both pieces contained the the same account and both were found to be trustworthy and worthy of inclusion in the writings about "In The Beginning".
Keith Baldwin's comment on 2012-03-16 02:00:57:
Genisis 1&2 seem incongruant in that 1 says "male and female created He them"which sounds complete in the order of creation. Then in chp.2 suddenly "there was no man to till the earth" so then God formed man. So was man created during creation week or after?
