With everything in context you would have to assume that Jesus isn 't well known at this point at least to the money changers. This is early in his ministry and they just left Capernaum where he did his first miracle. That 's about to change. This verse states he found those that sold oxen and sheep and doves and changers of money sitting in the temple. The selling of those things wasn 't wrong, nor was the money exchanging going on so far as they weren 't merchandising the people. It was where they were doing it, in the temple of God that was the problem.
