Luke 19:27 is a warning to those who would oppose Jesus Christ. The parable illustrates Jesus ascension to his Father's throne until the time he returns to establish his kingdom. In verse 14 he said, "But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us." Likewise most of our world stands in rebellion against the coming Lord and King Jesus Christ.

Psalm 2 prophesies, "Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel." (v2:9) and, "Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him." (v2:12)
