Prayer and fasting must be the believers life style. You prepare yourself in power and strength and this is only made possible by prayer and fasting. We are only able to drive away or cast out devils by the ability of power we possess in the inner man.If you are not able to cast them out,it means you are not used to fasting and prayer.Remember that Jesus will always go on the mountain ....to pray So you dont wait for a sick person to appear before you ...determine the demon and go away into fasting ,maybe before you would have come the person will die The book says ..when thou fails in the day of adversity thy strength is small. It means the strength of the apostles were small to deal with that demon So fast and pray to prepare yourself against that day Remember also that you cannot pray and fast without Faith. BLESSED

Why did New International Version and New Living Translation bibles not record verse 21

Bendangakum's comment on 2014-09-09 21:23:15:

For me this verse totally blew my mind away. Here it says where our faith Comes from. Inorder to cast out demons we need to have faith and this faith comes from prayer and fasting.

This kind goeth out but by prayer and fasting. The subject here is Unbelief faith v20

Marcin's comment on 2014-07-06 13:02:01:

This kind OF UNBELIEF does not go out but by prayer and fasting! And THAN this kind of devil goes also out

Mabaso Alex's comment on 2014-05-21 19:48:58:

Fasting and Prayer are the tools we must use to fight the devil however in this case of Matthew 17 21, there 's a loop hole. If someone is sick, should I first determine the kinds of demons, then if they are powerful I go for maybe 5 day 's fasting? The devil is a liar, Jesus said 'If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO YOU '. The issue of fasting and prayer is to discipline and empower ourselves.

Unbelief itself is a devil that hinders any spiritual progress.it is removed throu ' prayer and fasting.

Justin's comment on 2014-04-15 00:30:15:

for us to serve God truly, we must do the will of God voluntarily not out of any peer pressure. fasting is regarded as the most difficult part in Christianity but believe me if God enters with you its not even easy to notice that you have not eaten for unusual hours which you are not used to. hence we must first invite God to give us extra strength to go through it even if hard. may God be with us all everytime we do it.

Luna's comment on 2014-03-29 15:00:27:

I love Shawna 's comment, how true it is. We need to fast, meditate on the Word of God, and be still and open in order to receive Word of Knowledge from God.

Patrucua's comment on 2014-02-19 07:38:47:

For this verse to be omitted by some translations it must be a pretty powerful tool against Satan

Errol Forde's comment on 2014-01-31 17:04:21:

PRAYER AND FASTING BRINGS THE PHYSICAL BODY INTO SUBJECTION, AND ALLOWED SPIRITUAL MAN TO FUSE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. HENCE SUPERNATURALLY CONQUERING THE PHYSICAL OBSTICALS IN LIFE, AND ALLOWING THE WILL OF GOD TO BE DONE IN EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN,IN OTHER WORDS AT THIS TIME IT IS NO LONGER YOU THAT LIVETH BUT JESUS CHRIST THE ANOINTED ONE WHO LIVES BREATH AND SPEEK THROUGH YOU, THERFORE ALL THINGS NOW BECOME POSIBLE THROUGH CHRIST WHO LIVE IN YOU FOR THAT DURATION OF TIME.

Elaine's comment on 2014-01-26 08:18:13:

Oh how the enemy of our souls would like to remove or have confusion on two MOST powerful tools of spiritual warfare.

Atuhire Joanne's comment on 2014-01-05 08:37:47:

The truth is that the devil dint want it in theBible but of course God made sure it appears atleast below &in Mark 9:29

robert's comment on 2013-11-14 16:16:53:

I do believe fasting was in the original manuscript.
I know by own experience in the ministry of deliverance, that fasting is necessary in various cases.
The term fasting is in the Majority Text (Byzantine Text) and in the Textus Receptus and found in the text that is used by the Greek Orthodox Church both in Mathew 17: 21 and Mark 9: 29.

afriyie's comment on 2012-10-04 14:13:22:

Why do other bibles remove this verse and other verses. WHY?

psm's comment on 2012-07-25 18:11:31:

If this verse was not in the original then why add it. I thought you wasn't to add to or take away. God had it writen the way he wanted. Man is always messing things up like remembering the Sabbath not Sunday. I wonder how much our ancestors has lets us down throughout the years

Jerome's comment on 2012-03-19 03:31:05:

The two manuscripts mentioned by Nannoulou, "Codex "Sinaiticus,Alpeh" and "Codex Vaticanus, B" are based upon corrupted Egyptian/Alexanderian manuscripts/texts, Westcott and Hort and Bruce Metzger(co-editor of UBS's Critical Greek Text). The drive and brains behind this blatant attack upon the King James Version is none other then Westcott and Hort. Their Bio's are in the streams of obtainable information/knowledge for any and all seekers of truth as it relates to our Creator God. May the Blessings of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ be upon all who read this post!

Nannoulou's comment on 2011-06-07 00:57:47:

It seems that this verse (Matthew 17:21) does not appear in some of the very oldest manuscripts that are available to us. For example it does not appear in the Sinaitic code or the Vatican code manuscripts - for this reason some translations omit it entirely as it seems that it was added later on and not part of the original.

While I agree that fasting may be a good thing - we should not add to or take away from the Holy Writings however good our intentions may be.
