Let us not leave off reading at verse 40:

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. (Matthew 24:42-44)

Dont be decieved in the 5th seal the believers die for the word the ones left are the ones that are part of the system now.1/4 of the world will be killed the believers will be beheaded for the word and given a crown of life Rev. In trumpets a 3rd will die after that. The rest that survive will be apart of the system that has taken the mark of the beast. Jesus makes it very clear not to be deceive by man he will not come untill the 7th trumpet judgement.

How could there be a 3 days of darkness, and during the darkness, Christians will be raptured? And 2 in the field , one will be taken, the other left?

What it says to me is what we are living in today. Lots of people God calling home. We came in this world by ourselves, if your not a twin. The good person will be taken and the bad left to get themselves right or continue to live in hell. It used to be my moma and dad now its just mom God called him to rest until that final day comes.

I am so thankful that Jesus Himself said that there would be a rapture of His Church as in John Chapter 14:1-3 V3b I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am. Where Jesus will get His pride from and take it to where? It is from here on earth to heaven. God placed Noah and his family in the boat leaving the bads behind. The angels took Lot and his family out of Sodom and left the bad people behind. Israel was safe and Secure in Goshen while all Egyptians faced the all plagues. So here we come to Matthew.24:40-42, Two men working in the field, one will be taken away, the other will be left behind. Two women will be at a mill grinding meal, one will be taken away another will be left behind. Those people were working on the earth, At the time of blessed hope mentioned by apostle Paul, or rapture, all the believers will be caught up forcibly as fast as the twinkling of the eye to meet their Lord and Savior in the air . Then Jesus Christ took His Pride, the Church to be with Him until the time He will come with them to establish Thousand Years Kingdom.

John Edwards's comment on 2014-11-04 08:50:31:

It seems that even though many hold these verses to be the or a cornerstone for the rapture, dialogue with other Bible scholars do not bring up the "rapture " in their discourse. Adam Clark 1825 states "The meaning seems to be, that so general should these calamities be, that no two persons ... should both be able to effect their escape and that captivity and the sword should have a complete triumph over this unhappy people. " No where in Clarks commentary does he say, "This is the lift off of the saints before Christs ' second coming. " So what are we to know, is there a "rapture " or is there not? I am still looking.

Matthew 24 40 Seems to be the way life is, it refers tolife and death we are here one day and gone the next.

Thomas Meruti's comment on 2014-01-13 01:43:48:

This scripture refers to rapture, which has been prophecied in the book of Revelation. This is not figurative, but literal that "two shall be in the field, the other shall be taken, the other left". It will help if this scripture is read in line with the mystery that Paul talks about " ..we shal l not all sleep, but in the twinkling of an eye we shall be changed..." Paul further says that those who slept in the Lord will be raised first and then we who are in Christ will join them in the sky/cloud. Both this scriptures refers to rapture that will take place when Christ the Lord returns.

When it is stated that "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left", That says to me that One human is in the field... His Spirit or Soul is taken (Inner Man) and his Body (Outer Man) is left behind.

Jason's comment on 2013-11-14 23:40:01:

Praise God!! I understand now. There's no secret rapture.

SL's comment on 2013-11-03 14:30:00:

The previous verse 39 says that all those not with Noah in the arc were TAKEN away by the flood. Doesn't it follow then that in this verse 40 that those TAKEN were judged and those left were saved {because they were in Christ}. Also in Psalm91 we see in verses 7&8 that the believer will not be touched but look on and see the punishment of the wicked.

LG's comment on 2012-12-26 16:35:48:

Sounds like a secret rapture if the reader will conclude on this one text alone. But one cannot build a Bible doctrine in one verse alone. It should go in harmony with the whole context and subject of Christ's second coming. A little here a little there and precept upon precept.
