Joshua's comment on 2020-11-26 17:32:49:
And again, Luke 10:16 "He that HEARETH YOU HEARETH ME; and HE THAT DESPISETH YOU DESPISETH ME; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me."
What about witnessing to our family members? Family are perhaps the hardest people to preach to. Because they know us. "Oh that's just Joshua, I've known him since I was a kid. He used to pull my hair! What does he know?"
It's as Jesus said, "No prophet is accepted in his own country." Or by their own family! God tells us this: "And of some HAVE COMPASSION, MAKING A DISTINCTION: And others SAVE WITH FEAR, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh." Jude 22-23
But God even gave us the example of our own wives/husbands if they reject and leave us BECAUSE of the Gospel:
1 Corinthians 7:15 'But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. 16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?'
If an unbelieving husband or wife leaves us, we are not under bondage to go after them. If we are not REQUIRED to go after our own spouses, why would we go after the dogs/swine? Recall again Matthew 7:6.
Joshua's comment on 2020-11-24 12:47:56:
Our duty as Jesus Christ's servants is to preach His Gospel. Can we make judgments about anyone BEFORE we tell them the Gospel? I don't think so. However, once we have preached to someone, and they react to the news of Christ as a dog/swine(they reject it, mock it, insult it etc), their blood is on their own head. We are clean.
Acts 18:6 'And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, YOUR BLOOD BE UPON YOUR OWN HEADS; I AM CLEAN'
And again, Acts 20:26-27 "Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of ALL MEN. For I HAVE NOT SHUNNED TO DECLARE UNTO YOU ALL the counsel of God."
And again, Mark 6:11 "whosoever shall not receive you, NOR HEAR YOU, when ye depart thence, SHAKE OFF THE DUST UNDER YOUR FEET for a testimony AGAINST THEM. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city."
And again, Matthew "whosoever shall not receive you, NOR HEAR YOUR WORDS, when ye depart out of that house or city, SHAKE OFF THE DUST OF YOUR FEET."
Perhaps seeds were planted/watered by us and later that person will come to their senses, but the Bible tells us our duty is fulfilled. We depart from them and warn others.
Matthew 7:6 'GIVE NOT that which is holy UNTO THE DOGS, neither cast ye your pearls BEFORE SWINE, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.'
We see here, Christ Jesus never required us to babysit or go after the dogs or swine. Rather, he warns us to beware them.
Philippians 3:2 "BEWARE OF DOGS, beware of evil workers" Dogs are people who reject the Gospel of Christ. God compares them to evil workers.
And again, in Titus 3:10-11 "A man that is an heretick AFTER the first and second admonition REJECT; Knowing that HE THAT IS SUCH IS SUBVERTED, and SINNETH, BEING CONDEMNED OF HIMSELF.

Matthew 7:6 is the sixth verse of the seventh chapter of the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament and is part of the Sermon on the Mount. This verse contains an ambiguous warning about placing "pearls before swine."
One modern argument is that dogs and pigs represent Gentiles and heathens, and that this verse is demonstrating that Jesus' original message was intended only for the Jews. Harrington notes that such warnings are found in rabbinic works of the period. In Jewish literature heathens were often compared to dogs, and the unclean pig was a Jewish symbol for the Roman Empire. In 2 Peter 2:22, dogs and swine quite clearly refers to heretics. According to Schweizer this verse was used by Jewish Christians to attack the Gentile churches, to argue that Gentile Christians would turn on the Jews by rejecting their laws and destroying Israel. The dominant reading is that the two expressions are both referring to the same thing and the same group of people. To Nolland this verse is not an attack on any particular group, but rather a continuation of the theme of God and Mammon begun at Matthew 6:24 and that verse is an attack on wasteful spending. We should put all of our resources to God, as everything is like dogs and pigs compared to Him.Nolland also proposes that the verse might be to balance the other verses, that non-judgmentalism can only go so far and that there are some who should be excluded.
Loretta Buckhanan's comment on 2015-05-26 09:30:25:
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast you your pearls before swine there may be problems in the Church, as Verses 1 through 5 proclaim, but still, the church is never to reach out into the world, i.e., "dogs, " for help in order to solve it 's internal disputes ,lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you no help will be coming from the world, but rather destruction. we are to take our problems to the Lord, obeying His Word, concerning disputes . Ref Mat.18:15-17 .
robert of springfield's comment on 2015-05-08 16:28:25:
My take is that Jesus was concerned that we would be wasting our precious time and energy fooling around with the wasted. Jesus was clear in his preference instead in helping those that truly need our help. He realized that our resources in our lives are limited. Money. Health. Time. Energy.
Jerry's comment on 2015-02-21 09:20:19:
I tend to go with the idea that he was referring to those who having been once enlightened to the Word of God and have now rejected it, are not to again share the precious Word with them again. Seems logical since this scripture was preceded by instructions on judgement not to be imposed on others, at your peril. The Bible also speaks of a group not to be prayed for. There is no contradiction in the Word. I suggest the two groups of people referred to are the same, valid today as then.
MockingBird's comment on 2015-02-06 07:36:02:
Jesus revered to the lost world : those that are without Christ : Not born again : as dogs. Yuk !!! I believe that God is saying here that what you and God have shared personally is not to be given out to the lost of the world. Even what God has required of you to do and give to Him. It is none of there business. We are only to tell the dogs : lost of the world what God has provided for them through Jesus Christ : That is that they do not have to go to hell and they can be saved through Jesus Christ . They only need to know they have a loving God that will save them and upon receiving Him that God will love them through all they face down the road. When I first got saved , this confused me to. But I think I have a better understanding now. Still have a lot to see in these words : I will never stop learning.

I had a family of filthy pigs , who abused their children both violently, and sexually. I was very upset to see my church deliver a large basket of food to them. Was I wrong?
MARY SMITH's comment on 2014-05-06 09:52:45:
I WILL KEEP PONDERING AND PRAYING ABOUT THIS SCRIPTURE. THE WORD OF GOD TELLS US TO WITNESS AND WARN ALL THAT THEY NEED TO BE SAVED OR THEY WILL PERISH.
Makini's comment on 2014-04-28 21:46:47:
the emphasis of dogs and swine turning again to rend you is emphasis of being attacked trying to help someone who does not want it and in turn shows their disapproval by doing such. The mindset is "Just save your breath and strength lest you lose it by wasting it. " Things that are not wasted are used for the good, therefore there is profit in not wasting and the lack thereof when you waste. you have no fruit with those who do not have a desire to hear the things of God. There is no return on that investment in other words. Don 't put your money there lest your account becomes depleted.

What Jesus meant to say in Mat. 7:6 was: Do not reveal your holy secrets to the wicked (whoever they are) least they will trample them under their feet, and turn again and rent you."
