I am wondering if "winketh the eye" means what we now mean when we say we "turn a blind eye" to something? So that if someone sees something wrong but does not say anything could that lead to being sorry later?

I think this means that people who wink at people they like eitherwant to earn a false trust to manipulate them.....or are after them in a sinful way...which thus will "cause sorrow" in the end.
