None of the authors of the New Testament ever used any of those Hebrew names for God. They just called Him ""Lord" (in grk Kyrios, Master). I believe Matthew, Luke, Mark, John, Paul, Peter, Jude and James knew exactly what they were doing and what whas right to call God. So don't let yourself be confused by people who try to take advantage of maybe not so good knowledge of yours of the Bible to promote their beliefs. On top of that the name of God in New testament is "Father", just that and only that.

1 Corinthians 1:1-2, "1Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,2Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:"

In verse 2 pay attention please to that "call upon the name of Jesus Christ". This is the name the ancient church called upon. It is the only name that matters and through that name (Jesus means Saviour in Hebrew, which means to call upon His sacrifice) people are saved. Nothing else.

But to your question about Psalm 83:18. And again I assume that your question is about the use of 'Jehovah' in the KJB, a Name that is more commonly used in the NWT. Actually, the answer lies with the translators of the KJB, back in AD 1611, appointed by the then King James I in AD 1604. As we check on the instances where the Name Jehovah appears in the KJB (i.e. Exodus 6:3, Psalms 83:18, Isaiah 12:2, and Isaiah 26:4), it seems that the translators who were appointed to work on those Books, preferred to use 'Jehovah' in those verses for their own reasons.

When we look at the Isaiah 12:2 & Isaiah 26:4 references (be-yah Yahweh), it is likely the translators wanted to emphasize the absolute greatness of God. As one expositor has commented, "The union of these two forms (of Yahweh) seems designed to express, in the highest sense possible, the majesty, glory, and holiness of God; to excite the highest possible reverence where language fails of completely conveying the idea." Otherwise, where the Glorious & Personal Name of Yahweh is given in the KJB, translators have used LORD (in caps) instead.

I am going to come straight to the point

I am not a great scholar of all of the Bible being of a humble disposition - however I have been taught by 2 good teachers of the Bible about the meaning of this verse and all the other verses after I had counselling and support through a bereavement of my wife.

The Jehovah's Witness explained the Bible was written over 1600 years, comprising 66 books. THE ORIGINAL SOURCE - the language spoken in those times was Hebrew (old Testament) and Greek (new Testament). The Hebrew alphabet has 22 letters, and the 4 used for God or Lord are the 4 symbols "####" In fact, #### is written some 7000 times in The Bible.

Your local Jehovah's Witness representative in your area can fully explain this information.

They will be able to illustrate this point.

Some 3 years ago I started under the instruction of my local Jehovah's Witness tutors who have been teachers for over 40 years. This is entirely voluntary.

However my tuition has taught me about the history of The Bible, as its provenance is crucial for interpretation. Here we use the King James Bible V - but there are many others in use throughout the world.

The name given at Psalms 83:18 is derived from the Hebrew consonants Yod He Vod He, or YHVH, referred to commonly as the Tetragrammaton. Because of IGNORANT and FOOLISH Jewish "tradition" of refusing to pronounce "the name" based on the commandment to "not use the name of thy God in vain," the original pronunciation has been lost to history. However, based on the Hebraic tradition of names having meanings and their numerical coded messages in Gematria, the pronunciation Yahweh has been given as the closest Hebrew approximation to the name in modern times. In English, it is translated a Jehovah and the J is pronounced with the J sound. In Spanish the J is pronounced with the H sound, and there is no "h" at the end in Spanish spelling. Satan the Devil does not want humans to know the name of the only TRUE God, Yahweh/Jehovah so that we would not KNOW who the true God is nor call on His name and worship Him. This is why the name has been all but removed from translations of the original scrolls, even though on the originals it was written 1000's of times. JEHOVAH is the only TRUE God and Jesus Christ is His SON, whom Jehovah gave as a sacrificial ransom, once for all time, for redemption of the Adamic sins of humankind, in order that all who believe in Jesus and OBEY His commands would be forgiven our sins and receive everlasting life.

We are known by our names, not what we are man woman . God isn 't his name, it is what he is. His name is Jehovah. When you know someone personally, you call them by their name. Yahweh or Yehovah is closer in Hebrew but most of us speak English. English is English and Hebrew is Hebrew. Yeshua is closer to how the Hebrews called Jesus as we say in English.
